This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Brody McDaniels and Mallory Hughes

BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another season of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a male and female athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the basketball court, wrestling mat or swimming pool.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the weeks of Jan. 27 – Feb. 2 are Brody McDaniels and Mallory Hughes.

McDaniels is a sophomore on the Buccaneer basketball team. In a near upset over Class AAA No. 2 Bridgeport, he had six points and five rebounds. He followed that up with a game-high 19 points with four three-pointers and five rebounds in a 63-51 victory over Lewis County.

Hughes is a junior on the Lady Buc swim team. At the Big 10 Championships, she individually placed third in the 50-yard freestyle (27.09) and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.24) and was part of the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that both finished fourth.

Congratulations to McDaniels and Hughes as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
