The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur recently presented a donation to the Hands and Hearts for Christ in support of their upcoming mission trip.
The group will be providing medical care to underserved people in rural areas of Guatemala during the month of March. A team of three surgeons, one anesthesiologist, four CRNA’s, OR nurses, scrub techs and support crew will volunteer their time at the rural clinic. They will primarily provide laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery (gall bladder) and different types of hernia repairs.
This will be their 24th mission trip to Central America, with the first 18 years in different areas of Belize and the remainder in Guatemala.
The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur is dedicated to its mission of “Service Above Self,” addressing many needs in our community and beyond. They have completed many service projects over the past club year and provided support to various non-profit organizations. Rotary offers help in several ways, including volunteer support and donations of supplies or funds through a grant process.
