Students who helped prepare tax returns for community members recognized by school board

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Board of Education acknowledged several students who have achieved certification in Basic Tax Law at their meeting on May 24. The students also participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offered by the IRS.

Bradly Helmick, Cory Harris, Savannah Lashmit, Kenzie Leonard, Reis Leonard, Madolyn Long, Regina Petrokovich, Ashley Catlin, Aaliyah Cameron and Brycen Allen volunteered their time to prepare Federal and State Income tax returns, according to Upshur County Schools. They provided this service for both students and community members.

The students were recognized as Upshur Stars at the board meeting for their participation in the VITA program and the preparation of tax returns.
