The West Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s help following a fatal hit-and-run in Romney.
On Monday, June 15, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Trooper M. T. Overbaugh of the West Virginia State Police Romney Detachment responded to the area of U.S. Route 50 in Romney, near the Family Dollar, for a report of a hit-and-run.
The victim, Deborah L. Edwards, 64, died from injuries sustained when a vehicle struck her as she crossed U.S. Route 50, State Police said.
The West Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the individuals in the released photo. Anyone who is one of the individuals pictured, who was in the area that evening and heard any vehicle horns being blown, or who recognizes any of the individuals is asked to contact the West Virginia State Police Romney Detachment at 304-822-3561.
