State may begin returning control to Upshur County school board in February 2026
West Virginia Wesleyan goalkeeper Reyna Dalton earned MEC Women’s Defensive Player of the Week honors after making 19 saves and posting consecutive shutouts against Concord and Glenville State.
West Virginia Wesleyan junior Lindsey Dillon was named MEC Women’s Cross-Country Runner of the Week after finishing 20th of 126 runners in 23:33.8 at the RMU Colonial Invitational. She placed first among all MEC competitors.
Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School’s boys placed third among 18 teams at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational, led by Felix Stump’s seventh-place run. The girls finished eighth among 16 teams, with Taylor Wright leading in 17th.
WVU Express offers qualifying seniors in Monongalia and Kanawha counties direct admission to the Morgantown Campus without an application or fee. The pilot aims to remove barriers and could expand to other West Virginia counties.
Buckhannon’s Sept. 14-18 calendar features public board and council meetings, curbside recycling and a free songwriters workshop. The CAC Gallery also continues “The Vital Actants” exhibit through Sept. 26.
