Buckhannon-Upshur’s Kierra Pumphrey earned Second Team honors on the Big 10 Conference All-Cheerleading Team, the school’s lone selection voted on by league coaches. Lincoln won the Big 10 Cheer Competition, and Lincoln’s Mandi Brown was named Coach of the Year.

Buckhannon-Upshur senior Allie Key earned 2025-26 Big 10 Girls’ Basketball First Team All-Conference honors, the only Lady Buc selected. She led B-U with 9.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, plus 38 blocks, 37 steals and 29 assists.

West Virginia Wesleyan was shut out 21-0 at Charleston as the Golden Eagles jumped ahead 10-0 after one quarter and never let up. The Lady Bobcats got saves and late chances but couldn’t break through, and return home to host Virginia State on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Lacrosse Bucs crush Wheeing Park for first win, 15-3
Buckhannon-Upshur powered to its first win of the season with a 15-3 rout of Wheeling Park, using balanced scoring from seven players despite a near 30-minute delay. Braylon Oldaker, Easton Rice and Tobias Marple netted three goals each as the Bucs improved to 1-1.
Lacrosse Lady Bucs can’t maintain slim halftime lead and fall in opener to GW, 9-7
Buckhannon-Upshur led 5-4 at halftime but couldn’t hold on, falling 9-7 to George Washington in Friday’s season opener. Mallory Moss scored three goals, Ava Lynch and Chloe Bennett added two each, and keeper Josie Rosencrance made 10 saves.
