Despite quick start, Lady Bucs fall in regional opner to Hurricane
Buckhannon-Upshur jumped out early but couldn’t sustain it, falling to Hurricane 52-36 in the South Region opener after a rough second quarter and a decisive third-quarter run. Allie Key led B-U with 11 points as the Lady Bucs closed the season 5-17.
Wesleyan tennis teams sweep Shaw
West Virginia Wesleyan closed its Carolina swing with a sweep of Shaw, as the men rolled 7-0 and the women won 5-2. The Bobcats vaulted into the ITA Top 50, with the men at No. 39 and the women at No. 46—Wesleyan’s first women’s ranking since 2010.
Wesleyan lacrosse drops home contest to Capital, 18-5
Capital University pulled away from Wesleyan in Saturday’s home opener, rolling to an 18–5 win behind Leah Leno’s six goals and four assists. The Lady Bobcats showed early fight, but were held to one shot after halftime as Capital outshot Wesleyan 33–10.
Wesleyan softball team ends spring break trip with four straight losses
West Virginia Wesleyan softball battled in four tight matchups at the Space Coast Tournament but ended spring break with four straight losses. The Bobcats fell 3–2 on a seventh-inning walk-off to Cedarville, 5–1 to Mary, 15–11 to Minnesota Crookston, and 3–0 to Bridgeport.
Baseball ‘Cats go 2-2 over two-day stretch in Florida
West Virginia Wesleyan went 2–2 in a busy two-day Florida stretch at the RussMatt Invitational, dropping tight games to Concordia–St. Paul (3–2) and Jamestown (11–5). The Bobcats bounced back Thursday by sweeping St. Michael’s 7–3 and 5–4, rallying late in the nightcap.
Wesleyan women get upset by Frostburg State in MEC Tournament
West Virginia Wesleyan went punch-for-punch with Frostburg State in a fast-paced MEC Tournament quarterfinal, with five ties and seven lead changes at WesBanco Arena. But a late fourth-quarter Frostburg surge sealed a 77–71 upset and ended the Lady Bobcats’ postseason run.
Basketball Bucs finish eighth in final regular season coaches’ poll
Buckhannon-Upshur finished eighth in the final regular-season WVSACA Class AAAA coaches’ poll after a 1-1 week, falling by one to No. 2 Morgantown before beating rival Lewis County. The Bucs are 14-8 and open South Regional Tournament play Friday.

Frostburg State’s Trey Simmons was voted MEC Player of the Year after leading the league at 23.9 points per game, while Concord’s Boubacar Djigo earned Defensive Player of the Year.

Wesleyan softball opened its Space Coast Tournament spring break trip by splitting four games in Melbourne, Fla., beating Walsh and Roosevelt while falling to Tiffin and Jamestown.
Wesleyan lacrosse downs Greensboro for first win, 5-2
West Virginia Wesleyan earned its first win with a 5–2 road victory over Greensboro, powered by Nyah Elmer’s hat trick and Wiktoria Walska’s two goals. Ella Gomez made eight saves as the Lady Bobcats forced 37 turnovers and held Greensboro to one goal through three quarters.
Wesleyan tennis teams begin spring break play
West Virginia Wesleyan tennis opened spring break with three matches in three days against Belmont Abbey, Catawba and Francis Marion. The Bobcat men edged two 4-3 wins around a road loss, while the women fell 1-6 in all three contests.
