My Buckhannon is proud to present another spring of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a male and female athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the baseball and softball diamonds, lacrosse fields, the track, and tennis courts.
Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of March 16 – March 22 are Kynnedy Marple and Easton Rice.
Marple is a junior on the Lady Buc softball team. In a 3-1 week for Buckhannon-Upshur, Marple hit .545 at the plate with six hits in 11 at-bats and knocked in seven runs while scoring five. In the circle, she went 2-0 in two appearances, getting a win in a relief role by throwing 3 1/3 innings against Robert C. Byrd in a 12-5 victory and throwing a complete five-inning game in an 11-3 win over Parkersburg South. In the two games, she gave up just four hits and three earned runs while striking out 16 in 8 1/3 innings pitched.
Rice is a senior on the Buccaneer lacrosse team. In their lone game of the week, a 15-3 win over Wheeling Park, Rice shared the team lead in goals with three while adding one assist. He also had three ground balls and won his only faceoff.
