The Buckhannon River Watershed Association invites humans and their furry friends for a fun, summer paddle along the Buckhannon River on Saturday, July 26.

The Furry Friends Paddle participants will meet at Buckhannon Riverwalk Park boat ramp, conveniently located next to the Buckhannon Dog Park. This beginner friendly paddle begins at 10am, out and back, on gentle flat water. This event is free to paddlers of all ages.

Paddlers are asked to bring their own gear, including a boat, drinking water, snacks, safety whistle, and sun protection. During the paddle, humans and their furry friends pups are required to wear a life jacket, while keeping everyone safe on the water.

This unique paddle event is hosted by Kevin Nicholson, BRWA volunteer water trail steward.

“Sharing the water with your pet can be a fun and satisfying experience for both you and your pet,” Nicholson said. “An event like this gives you both another reason to hit the water in Upshur County.”
