Splashers take 29 events against Bridgeport Swim Team

BRIDGEPORT – The Buckhannon Swim Club Splashers were able to take 29 of 80 events in a dual meet last Tuesday on the road against the Bridgeport Swim Team.

In the Under-6 group, Augusta Richards won three events for the girls taking the 50-meter freestyle (1:13.42), the 25-meter backstroke (39.06) and the 25-meter butterfly (42.14) while Gentry Roy won the 25-meter freestyle (28.50) for the boys.

Tori Wilsoncroft had the lone U8 win for the girls in the 50-meter freestyle (47.46) while Holden Carbera had the lone boy’s win in the 50-meter freestyle (1:10.78).

Cora Cottrill had wins in the 9-10 year-old 25-meter backstroke (21.77) and the 25-meter breaststroke (27.80) while Berkeley Jeran won the 25-meter butterfly (21.00) for the girls while Thomas Wilsoncroft won the 25-meter breaststroke (26.95) for the boys.

In the 11-12 year-old division for the girls, they won four races. Those belonged to Aubry Shay in the 50-meter backstroke (42.23) and the 50-meter breaststroke (44.17), Aspen Manning in the 100-meter IM (1:55.91) and Makenzie Egress in the 50-meter butterfly (59.11).

The 13-14 year-old division had the strongest evening for the Splashers winning eight events, taking four on the girls side, two on the boys and claiming two mixed relay events.

Winning for the girls were Sammie Shay in the 100-meter freestyle (1:20.80) and the 50-meter backstroke (42.92) while Rylee Yardley claimed the 50-meter freestyle (37.42) and the 50-meter butterfly (46.79). For the boys, Brody Jeran won the 50-meter backstroke (40.04) and the 50-meter freestyle (29.72). The two mixed victories were the 200-meter freestyle relay unit of Yardley, Shay, Liz Hurst and Jeran (2:25.53) and that same foursome in the 200-meter medley relay (2:53.55).

Seven victories were secured by the 15-18 year-old group, four by the girls and three from the boys.

For the girls, Cadence Vincent won the 50-meter backstroke (30.20), the 50-meter freestyle (26.96) and the 50-meter butterfly (29.33) while Alayna Whitehair claimed the 50-meter breaststroke (39.12). For the boys, Preston Bennett won all three of his events taking the 100-meter freestyle (56.61), the 100-meter IM (1:06.37) and the 50-meter breaststroke (35.80).

The Splashers are set to compete Tuesday at the Clarksburg Country Club then return home Thursday for a meet with Grafton.
