BUCKHANNON — Staunch defensive performances from both West Virginia Wesleyan College and Mountain East Conference leader Frostburg State University ended with a 1-0 loss for the Bobcats Sunday in Buckhannon.
Much of the match was played in the center half of the pitch but when Frostburg State did move toward goal, Wesleyan keeper Alyssa Miller stood tall, turning away eight of nine shots-on-goal.
Frostburg’s lone goal came in the 82nd minute when Toni Fiocco-Mizer took a cross from Carolyn DeSena to find Miller leaning in the opposite direction and scored the point from four yards out.
The Lady Bobcats host Concord University Wednesday, Oct. 18 and will take on a Mountain Lions team that shut them out 7-0 late in September. The kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Culpepper Stadium.
