Soccer Lady ‘Cats fall in final minute to Yellow Jackets, 1-0

INSTITUTE — It has been an unfortunate reoccurrence for the West Virginia Wesleyan College women’s soccer program, not only losing by one goal throughout the season but losing in the very last seconds.

Wednesday’s ending to its match at West Virginia State University felt like déjà vu all over when the Yellowjacket’s Esther Dhiramo booted the ball into the net on a scramble at Wesleyan goalie Paige Miller’s feet for the game-winner with 30 seconds remaining on the clock.

It was an eerie feeling, watching State do exactly what it did in the first meeting back on Sept. 17, finding the lose ball inside the 6-yard box with seconds to play for a 2-1 victory.

The Lady Bobcats will host its final two matches of the season.

The first will be Sunday, Oct. 29 against Glenville State University at 1 p.m. The final season game is against Davis & Elkins College next Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m.
