Soccer Lady Bucs’ rally runs out of time in 3-2 road loss to Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG – A Buckhannon-Upshur rally ran out of time as the Lady Bucs dropped a 3-2 decision to the homestanding Parkersburg Big Red Saturday afternoon in a non-conference outing.

Parkersburg owned a 3-0 lead with four minutes remaining in the game, but the Lady Bucs scored twice in a 60-second span to make it a 3-2 contest, but time ran out on the Lady Bucs before they could get the game-tying goal.

All three of Parkersburg’s scores were on free kicks.

Chloe Gribble scored the first goal in the seventh minute with the assist going to Camille Tatterson and then Tatterson scored on a free kick that went in from 25 yards out.

Parkersburg took that 2-0 lead into the half.

Tatterson scored again on another free kick from 40 yards out in the 45th minute to stake Parkersburg to their 3-0 lead.

Sidney Hollen played a through ball to Harley Dean in the 76th minute and Dean found the back of the net to put the Lady Bucs on the board making it a 3-1 contest.

Less than a minute later, Dean played a ball into the box that Grace Queen collected and scored on from six yards out closing the gap to 3-2.

With just three minutes remaining, the Lady Bucs were unable to get the game-tying goal.

“We played really well all game,” stated Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Piacente. “We finally were able to convert that into two goals late in the game. They just had the three free kicks that they scored on.”
