Soccer Lady Bucs cruise past Lewis County, 8-0

SOUTH WESTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur soccer Lady Bucs faced little resistance from the Lewis County Minutemaids in their Big 10 Conference outing Thursday evening.

The Lady Bucs scored early and often in an 8-0 victory.

“We played a solid game all around and we did well working on some of the concepts we’ve been practicing recently,” stated Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Piacente. “Our reserves were able to get a good amount of time today as well.”

Six different players managed to get into the scoring act for the Lady Bucs.

Harley Dean gave the Lady Bucs a 2-0 lead with goals in the sixth minute and the 17th minute with an unassisted score on the first one and the assist going to Grace Queen on the second one.

Haley Triplett gave the Lady Bucs a 3-0 lead in the 20th minute with the assist going to Dean and Rylen Carlyle finished off the first-half scoring with a goal in the 37th minute with the assist going to Triplett.

Triplett started the second-half scoring with a goal with the assist being credited to Dean in the 45th minute making it a 5-0 B-U advantage.

Kyleigh Keener scored on a penalty kick in the 56th minute and two minutes later Hannah Boyles found the back of the net with an unassisted goal making it 7-0.

Queen finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute.

B-U owned a 17-2 lead in shots-on-goal while corner kicks were even at 2-2.

The Lady Bucs were guilty of five fouls while Lewis County was called for four fouls.

B-U keeper Kyndal Davis stopped both shots she saw while Lewis County played two keepers as Marie Allen made four saves while Addie Brown made five saves.

Lewis County dropped to 1-14-1 overall and 1-9 in the Big 10 Conference.

The win improved the Lady Bucs to 9-5-3 overall and 7-1-3 in the conference play.

Buckhannon-Upshur will be back in action Saturday hosting Brooke at noon.
