Soccer ‘Cats fall to No. 3 Senators, 2-0

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Sahil Dhunnookchand made a career-high ten saves in net for the West Virginia Wesleyan (7-9-2, 5-9-2) men’s soccer team against No. 3 Davis & Elkins (16-0-2, 13-0-2) in a 2-0 loss on Sunday.

In the first half, D&E came out on the attack registering 11 shots.

However, it was the Bobcats that created the first big opportunity of the half.

In the 13th minute, Tanner Amos was played into space behind the Senator backline, with only the keeper to beat.

Jeremy Coste denied Amos of the scoring opportunity, keeping the game level at zero.

Daniel Cerezo finished off a Soshi Fujioka cross in the 26th minute giving the Senators the advantage in the half.

Dhunnookchand registered five saves in half to keep the Bobcats within striking distance.

In the second half, more impressive work from Dhunnookchand kept WVWC in the match.

Anderson Marroquin gave the Senators the insurance goal in the 83rd minute after Dhunnookchand denied the original chance.

After an unlucky deflection from the save, Marroquin found the ball at his feet right on the edge of the goal line and tapped it in for a goal.
