Soccer Bucs fail to score again in 3-0 setback to Bees

FAIRMONT – The Buckhannon-Upshur offense remains stuck in neutral as the soccer Bucs dropped a 3-0 road decision to East Fairmont Bees in Big 10 Conference action Tuesday night.

It was the fourth straight game where the Bucs have failed to score as they are now winless in their last six contests.

The game was scoreless at the break, but East Fairmont pushed through with three goals in the second half for the win.

“In the first half we controlled the possession and chances,” stated Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Mike Donato. “We created some great chances and even beat their goalkeeper but their defenders were able to step in last second and protect their goal. I thought our game plan going in was executed well but we couldn’t finish on the attacking end and missed a few marks defending that they were able to capitalize.”

The stat sheet was fairly even as both teams had six shots-on-goal while East Fairmont held a 4-3 lead in corner kicks.

Braydon Christopher put the Bees on the scoreboard just three minutes into the second half when he split the ball through the B-U center backs and found the back of the net.

Tony Comas put the Bucs down 2-0 when he played a through ball and dribbled in and scored with a shot to the far post in the 53rd minute.

East Fairmont’s Kollin Maxey wrapped up the scoring with a goal in the 72nd minute.

B-U was guilty of two fouls while East Fairmont was called for five.

Buckhannon-Upshur keeper Slaton Kowalkoski made three saves while East Fairmont goalie Charlie Boyer stopped six shots.

East Fairmont improved to 7-1-4 overall and 4-1-2 in the Big 10 Conference.

B-U dropped to 4-8-1 overall and 3-3 in the Big 10 Conference.

The Bucs will be back in action Thursday hosting Robert C. Byrd in a conference game at 7:30 p.m.
