Soccer Bobcats drop 2-1 home contest to Senators

BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats dropped a conference contest 2-1 to Davis and Elkins College Sunday under the raindrops in Buckhannon.

Dillon Rajkovic quickly got things started for the Bobcats in the 11th minute when Brogan Horniman lobbed a 40-yarder from the center stripe to John Hollis who pushed the ball out to Rajkovic. The sophomore forward from London blasted the ball into the corner, far post.

The Senators’ TraBi Diakite evened the match after Dominique Castano sent a long set piece into the penalty box from 35 yards out. A scramble for the ball found Diakite’s foot and he pushed the shot past Bobcat keeper James Docherty.

The game-winner came at 78:51. Modou Faye lobbed a clearing pass over Docherty’s head and the Senator defense held the Bobcats to win its first match of a season double-header.

Wesleyan travels to Salem University Wednesday, Oct. 2 for a 7:30 p.m. match with the Tigers.
