Seven new COVID-19 cases reported in Upshur County on Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 636 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (7), Barbour (11), Lewis (1), Randolph (7) and Webster (1) counties.

A total of 123 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR. Monday’s update:

Removed one confirmed case from Nov. 21
Added three probable and five confirmed cases to Nov. 22

Five additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 66-year old female from Kanawha County, a 71-year old female from Kanawha County, a 79-year old male from Berkeley County, a 75-year old male from Wyoming County, and a 72-year old male from Summers County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m., November 23, 2020, there have been 1,033,510 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 41,114 total cases and 667 deaths,” according to a press release.

About 13,678 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 26,769 people have recovered and 667 have died. The daily percent positive was 4.0%.
