Schedules set for basketball sectional tournaments for Bucs, Lady Bucs

TENNERTON – The Class AAAA Region I, Section II basketball pairings for both the girls and the boys was released today.

The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs, who currently sit at 11-9 overall with two games remaining, went 1-2 in sectional play will be the No. 3 seed.

They will visit No. 2 seed Bridgeport on Wednesday, Feb 22 at 7 p.m.

B-U lost their regular season clash with the Indians by a 57-42 score back on Feb. 1 in Bridgeport.

Bridgeport has concluded their regular season and will enter the tournament on a three-game losing streak with a 13-9 record.

The other sectional game will see No. 4 Preston traveling to No. 1 University on the same day.

The two first-round winners will meet on Friday, Feb. 24 at the highest seed remaining.

On the boy’s side, the Bucs are 6-13 overall with three games left, finished 1-2 in sectional action and will also be the No. 3 seed.

The Bucs will make the trip to Morgantown to face the No. 2 seed University Hawks on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.

B-U opened their season with the Hawks on the road way back on Dec. 6 and lost a 68-48 decision.

University is currently 11-7 on the year with four regular season games remaining.

The other sectional contest will have No. 4 Preston visiting No. 1 Bridgeport that same evening.

The two first-round winners will meet on Thursday, March 2 at the highest seed remaining.

BOYS TOURANMENT

Tuesday, Feb. 28

No. 4 Preston at No. 1 Bridgeport, 7 p.m.

No. 3 Buckhannon-Upshur at No. 2 University, 7 p.m.

Thursday, March 2

Preston/Bridgeport winner vs. Buckhannon-Upshur/University winner, at highest seed remaining, 7 p.m.
