Roby retires with 20 years of service to city waste department

BUCKHANNON: Last week, Dave Roby left work and did not need to return on Monday morning.

The weekend marked not just Roby’s birthday, but also the beginning of his well-earned retirement after 20 years of service with the City of Buckhannon waste department. Roby began working with the waste department in 1999 and has been a dedicated worker and member of the crew ever since.

Director of Public Works, Jerry Arnold, shared that Roby “was there every day and has an excellent work ethic. He will be hard to replace.”

Jeff Wamsley, Waste Department Supervisor, added, “Dave is one of a kind and will be sadly missed.”

Roby plans to enjoy his retirement spending time outdoors on his favorite glider at his home in Abbott with his wife, Sue, and cats.
