Richard Lee Moore

Richard Lee Moore, 74, of Buckhannon, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

He was born in Amherst, OH, on October 5, 1949, a son of the late Charles Lee Moore and Jeanette L. Hayes. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert Dawson; and sister, Marjo Miller.

On July 26, 1990, Richard married Lillie Mae Brown Hinkle. Together they shared over 33 years of marriage.

Forever cherishing their memories of Richards’s outgoing nature with his wife are two children: Richard Douglas Moore and wife, Jackie, of French Creek and Rhonda Moore and husband, Jeff Everett, of Bruceton Mills; four step-children: Karla Mealey of Weston, Amy Buchanan and husband, Mark, of Barboursville, Kevin Hinkle and wife, Melissa, of Buckhannon, and Jerry Hinkle and wife, Mary, of Allen, TX; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Joan Blodgett and husband, Allen, of Polk, OH, and Cathy Kalbani and husband, Abedallah, of Virginia; one brother, Garry Moore and wife, Laura, of Lorain, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was Christian by faith. He attended Firelands High School in Oberlin, OH. In his early years, Richard worked for the WV Division of Highways, then spent several years in the Oil and Gas field at Union Drilling, and finally did several stints with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy and Bailiff. He was also a member of the Upshur County Sheriff’s Association. Richard loved his basset hound, Happie, and his cat, Daisl. In his free time, you might find Richard tinkering on old cars or working in his garden out by the house.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Jessie officiating.
