Richard Charles Lewis, 97, died Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Nella’s Nursing Home in Elkins, where he had been a resident for several years. 

He was born on September 25, 1922, in Randolph County, a son of the late George O. and Nora Mealey Lewis.  On October 21, 1954, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Sophia Roth Lewis, who preceded him in death on March 10, 2020. 

Surviving are one son Steven Lewis and wife Melissa of Selbyville; three daughters:  Opal and husband Ralph Lipps of Rock Cave, Deborah Sayre of Pickens, and Denease Lewis of Helvetia; two grandchildren:  Olivia Winkle and Kathy Bryan; three great grandchildren:  Daniel and Heidi Bryan and Sarah Winkle; one brother James Lewis of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers:  Henry, John, Ike, and Ed; and two sisters:  Sally and Lucy. 

Mr. Lewis enjoyed hunting, cracking hickory nuts, and visiting with friends.

Private graveside services will be held at the Pleasant Dale Cemetery.
