Reta Pearl Landers Burkhammer, 93, of Buckhannon, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born in Troy, West Virginia, on February 6, 1933, a daughter of the late Raymond Lewis Landers and Ina Sarah Lamb Landers. Reta was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings: Charles Landers, Louise Kennedy, Wanda Donaldson, Myrl Lamb, Thelma Fahrenbach, Rossell Landers, and Mary Catherine Tallhammer.
Forever cherishing their memories of Reta are five children: Barbara Owens of Lancaster, South Carolina; Ina Morrell of Ravenswood, West Virginia; Buddy Burkhamer of Buckhannon; Edwin Burkhamer of Elkins; and Raymond Burkhamer, also of Buckhannon; seven grandchildren: Kristi, Courtney, Tiffany, John Tyler, Michael, Melissa, and Matthew; seventeen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Reta was an incredible woman known for her nimble fingers and sharp mind. As a homemaker, she had a passion for crochet, sewing, and puzzle books, hobbies that showcased her patience, attention to detail, and love for challenges. Her creations, woven with love and care, brought warmth and beauty to many homes. As a leader in the Coxs Mill 4-H, Reta was a mentor and a guide, sharing her skills and knowledge with the next generation. She was a graduate of Troy High School in 1953, a testament to her dedication and commitment to education.
Reta’s request for cremation has been honored by Clutter Funeral and Cremation. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
