The kick-off is slated to begin at 11 a.m. at Christian Fellowship Church, located on Fellowship Way just off Norvell Drive in Tennerton.

Sponsored by WVU Medicine/St. Joseph’s Hospital, the event will include a soup and sandwich lunch, some fun activities and a chance to learn more about being part of Upshur County Relay for Life.

Returning co-chairs for the year, Lori Harris and Daisy Hunt invite returning teams and anyone interested in being a part of Relay for Life to attend the kick-off.

Harris said, “We are beginning our 22nd Upshur County Relay for Life year in Upshur County and have raised more than $2 million in that time. We want to continue to raise awareness about cancer and the devastating toll it takes on our communities while continuing to fundraise to get closer to a cure.”

Hunt, who is is a cancer survivor, added, “Upshur County Relay for Life is always wanting to recruit more teams for our Relay but we also need people to work behind the scenes on our committee. There are a lot of roles to be filled. Anyone interested in helping out should plan to attend.”
