Steven Wayne Cox, 79, of French Creek, WV, passed away on March 30, 2026, in Markleysburg, PA, due to complications from dementia. He retired after 40 years as a security officer at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

West Virginia Wesleyan’s tennis teams were swept at Charleston on Saturday, with the men falling 5-2 and the women 6-1 in Mountain East Conference play. Wesleyan earned singles wins from Stefan Audrins and Timothe Plaza, and Renata Pozzobon.

West Virginia Wesleyan will suspend women’s lacrosse competition for the rest of the 2026 season due to insufficient participation. The six remaining MEC games will be recorded as forfeits, with no impact on the 2026 tournament field or the league’s NCAA AQ status.

West Virginia Wesleyan battled but dropped both games of Friday’s doubleheader to West Virginia State, 7-3 and 6-4. The Bobcats led early in the opener and rallied to tie game two, but the Yellow Jackets answered with timely extra-base hits and held on late.

West Virginia’s GHSP is launching a National Distracted Driving Awareness Month campaign with NHTSA, urging drivers to keep their eyes forward and phones out of reach. Distracted driving killed 3,275 people in 2023 and injured 324,819, and police statewide will be watching.
