Princeton Police Lt. R.M. Combs has been charged with first-degree arson in connection with an August 4 fire in the 900 block of Harrison Street in Princeton, according to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Combs, a 12-year employee of the Princeton Police Department, is on administrative leave as internal and criminal investigations proceed, the office said in its October 28 release.
The office said its investigators arrested Combs October 28 with help from the West Virginia State Police. It also said the city and its police department cooperated fully in the investigation.
The release reported that Combs had been taken to the Mercer County magistrate’s office for arraignment and that bond had not yet been set.
Combs is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
