BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Ivar “Skip” Gjolberg, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital, has been appointed as the West Virginia Hospital Association (WVHA) board chair for 2024. His appointment was formally approved during a House of Delegates meeting on November 6 and takes effect on January 1, 2024.
Gjolberg has been with the hospital since 2016. Under his leadership, the hospital has received many honors including being named one of the top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by the Chartis Center for Rural Health and recognized with the Gold Honors Achievement Award in the WVHA Commitment to Excellence Honors Program. He has served as Chair of the WVHA HOSPAC Committee and as a member of the WVHA Legislative Committee.
The WVHA is a not-for-profit organization representing hospitals and health systems across the state. The association was founded in 1925 to serve as the collective voice of the state’s hospital community. Today, the mission of the WVHA is to support its members in achieving a strong, healthy West Virginia.
