Power Alley CrossFit strengthens leadership as it gears up for growth in 2025

Gym Manager Mitch Shaw

Power Alley CrossFit is bringing in the new year, like many of you probably will, by making some changes. Some familiar faces are set to be taking on new roles within the gym in an effort to make things operate more smoothly day-to-day.

Owners Charles (CJ) Day and Matthew Tankersley took over the gym from previous ownership in 2022 and have been working to re-establish the CrossFit community in Buckhannon. The gym, located on Traders Alley, right in the heart of downtown Buckhannon, has been a staple of the community since 2018 when Almost Heaven CrossFit opened.

Head Coach Rhonda Hollen

Entering into 2025, Day and Tankersley have decided to give the role of Head Coach to Rhonda Hollen. Hollen has been coaching CrossFit for approximately five years and has devoted countless hours to developing CrossFit athletes in both Buckhannon and Elkins. In this new role, she will still be coaching classes, but she will also help manage the schedules of the existing coaches while recruiting new ones.

Along with the addition of a Head Coach, the ownership has decided to add a Gym Manager role, to be manned by Mitchell Shaw. Shaw will manage the day-to-day operations of the gym: working with the coaches to plan events, coordinating with Hollen on the workout programs and daily calendar, recruiting new members to the gym and any other projects needed.

According to Shaw, the gym is planning a lot of events for 2025 to include hosting the annual CrossFit Open games workouts, MURPH (a Memorial Day workout), the Second Annual Power Alley Wodtoberfest Battle Run, and the SETH Project WOD. There will also be monthly challenges for members to work on perfecting challenging movements while also building comradery through friendly competition.

Power Alley is actively looking for coaches to join their ranks as well as members to come and work out. The schedule can be found on their website, poweralleycrossfit.com, and you can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram (facebook.com/dtfitness26201 & instagram.com/poweralleycf) to keep up to date with all changes at the gym.
