Post 7 drops road outing to Charleston Post 65

INSTITUTE – It was one of those games that you would just rather forget about if you are Buckhannon Post 7 and manager Kevin Boring.

Post 7 made the trip to the Kanawha Valley to face Charleston Post 65 Wednesday evening and dropped an 18-0 decision in a game called after five innings on the mercy rule. The loss ended a three-game winning streak for Post 7 and dropped their record to 8-9 overall.

Charleston scored three times in the bottom of the first inning, then added six more in the bottom of the second inning and two more in the bottom of the third for an 11-0 lead. They chased across seven runs in the bottom of the fourth for their 18-0 win.

Buckhannon managed just two hits in the loss, singles by Zach Calef-Boring and Ryan Snyder.

Charleston collected 10 hits with Gage Tawney leading the offense with two hits and five RBIs.

Post 7 used four pitchers in the contest with Calef-Boring getting the start and suffering the loss. He went 1 2/3 innings and allowed six earned runs on five hits.

Buckhannon will be back in action Thursday hosting Sissonville’s Junior Legion team. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
