I am announcing my candidacy for Upshur County Commissioner in the 2026 election.

Upshur County has always been home to me. As a lifelong resident, I was born and raised here and have spent my life working, raising a family, and being involved in the community.

I was born in 1974 and raised by my diligent and steadfast parents, Kyle Wright Lane and Judith Ann (Archer) Lane, who taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and integrity. Those lessons have guided me throughout my life, my career, and my community involvement. I graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1992 and went on to attend West Virginia Wesleyan College, earning a degree in Business Management in 1996 while working at the college during my studies and remaining involved with our family businesses.

I have more than 35 years of experience working in family-owned businesses with strong roots in Upshur County. My family’s business history here dates back to 1954 and 1962, with the opening of Triple “L” Mart in 1990. I have helped develop and manage Triple “L” Mart for more than 25 years, gaining hands-on experience in operations, budgeting, long-term planning, day-to-day decision-making, and navigating both growth and challenges.

Buckhannon, as the county seat of Upshur County, reflects the blend of tradition, hard work, and forward-looking spirit that defines our community. I believe it is important to preserve what makes our county special while planning carefully and responsibly for the future.

As an Upshur County Commissioner, I would be tasked with overseeing the county budget, county property and facilities, infrastructure, and essential public services, while also serving as a direct point of contact for citizens. I believe effective county government begins with listening, being accessible, and making thoughtful decisions with taxpayer dollars.

Family is central to my life. I have shared the past 23 years with my life partner, Paula. Together, we are proud of our family, including my amazing bonus daughter Chelsea, son-in-law Ryan, and four beautiful granddaughters — Hailey, Hanna, Harper, and Hazeley. We truly enjoy spending time with our granddaughters and supporting them in all their activities and sporting events.

I am a devoted Christian and draw strength and guidance from my faith. I am active in the community and affiliated with Franklin Lodge #7, the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce, the Kesling Mill Lions Club, the West Virginia Farm Bureau, the United States Bowling Congress, and the West Virginia Bear Hunter’s Association. I enjoy bowling, golfing, farming, hunting, fishing, and spending as much time as possible outdoors.

As a candidate for Upshur County Commission, I want to give back to the county that has given me so much. I value fairness, transparency, and dedication. Those principles have guided me in business and in life, and they will guide me in public service.

I look forward to spending time throughout Upshur County, listening to residents, and working collaboratively to serve our community and support economic development while protecting the values and character of Upshur County.

I respectfully ask for your support and vote in the upcoming election as we work together to build a strong future for Upshur County and keep it moving forward.
