Patricia Gayle “Patty” Boone

Patricia Gayle “Patty” Boone, age 52, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, September 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 18, 1973, in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Hughie Boone and Betty Lou Carter Carson, who she sorely missed.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Carson.

She is survived by stepfather John Carson and companion Kate Blake of Buckhannon; daughter Kelsie Payne and husband Cameron of Buckhannon; son Bobby Barnett and companion Breanna Perry of the home; and three grandchildren, Braelynn, Lelend, and Gracelynn. Also surviving are brother Matthew Carson of Morgantown; sister-in-law Mary Carson of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews; and her two special cats.

Patty had been employed as a receptionist at The Spectacle Family Eyecare in Buckhannon. She enjoyed working with Dr. Bennett and caring for patients.

Patty was known for her wit, honest heart, and voice that never shied away from the truth. She told you like it was and still managed to make you laugh in the process.

Beyond the tough love and sharp wit was a heart that beat for others. She had a remarkable way of caring for people and showing up when it mattered most. Her capacity to love deeply, fiercely, and unconditionally was felt by everyone lucky enough to know her.

Over the last three years, Patty’s strength showed through in her battle with cancer. She faced every challenge with courage, humor, and resilience, refusing to let the disease define her spirit. She fought bravely and lived fully to the very end.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5–7 p.m. at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel with Pastor Chad Lewis officiating. Following the service, the body will be cremated.
