In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Huelin Cecil Linger, who preceded her in death just three months ago. Also, two brothers: Andrew Donald (Iona) Starkey and James O. Starkey and two sisters: Carolyn Lee Smallridge and Lavina Jeane Starkey preceded her in death.

She is survived by her six children: David (Kim) Linger, Donald (Cathy) Linger, Alice (Dallas) Alkire, Darrell (Michelle) Linger, and Jeanan (Jerry) Hoover, all of Buckhannon, and Daniel Linger of Jane Lew; two sisters-in-law: Yong Ae Starkey of Melbourne, FL and Carol (Ken) Armstrong of Fort Myers, FL; nine grandchildren: Kristopher (Jess) Linger, Kacey (Jeff) Massey, Kirsten (Todd) Blake, Derek (Linsey) Alkire, Holly (Lucas) Morgan, Nathaniel (Lorilyn) Linger, Kayla Linger, Jordan Hoover, and Cole Hoover; and ten great grandchildren.

Patricia was a Christian by faith and a member of the Hampton UM Church.

After graduating high school, she moved to Washington, D.C., and was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigations for a short time before moving back home to marry the love of her life on August 19, 1952. She then dedicated her life to creating a wonderful Christian home and raising her six children.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Memories for loving and caring for our mom as their own.

The family will receive friends at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, at which time the funeral service will begin with Pastors Michael Hinkle and Treasea Crites officiating. Interment will follow in the Hampton Cemetery.

Online condolences may be extended to the Linger family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The Linger family entrusted the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel with the arrangements.
