One person dies in single-vehicle crash Monday morning on Route 20 North

HODGESVILLE — One person was killed in a fatal single-vehicle wreck early Monday morning.

According to a press release issued by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, at about 7:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, deputies responded to a single-vehicle wreck on Route 20 North near the Barbour County line.

Deputies believe the vehicle had been traveling north on Route 20 when it “left the roadway, struck a tree and came to a rest over an embankment,” the release says. The victim was discovered a short distance from the vehicle; the sheriff’s office is not releasing the person’s name pending notification of family members.
