Severe weather info
The City of Buckhannon continues to experience rapidly changing winter weather conditions and low temperatures. To help keep the community safe, residents can take a few simple steps:
- Clear sidewalks and walkways as conditions allow and use salt or traction agents to reduce refreezing
- Avoid parking along plow routes when possible; use off-street parking so plow trucks have room to operate safely
- Do not push or blow snow into the street, as it creates hazards and slows down cleanup efforts
- Keep storm drains clear of slush, leaves and ice to help prevent localized flooding during rain-on-snow events
- Check on neighbors who may need assistance with snow removal or safe access

At the Colonial Arts Center
Now through February 28 — “My Photo Finish,” a solo exhibition by local photographer Al Tucker, is on display in the Gallery. Tucker’s work captures the beauty of West Virginia’s landscapes and nature, reflecting a passion he discovered later in life after a distinguished Air Force career. Gallery hours: Fridays and Saturdays, 4-8 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
February 25 — Join us at 6 p.m. at the Colonial Arts Center for a TreCosta Entertainment film about addiction, recovery and hope. The story follows Lucas Waller, whose dependence on prescription pain medication pulls his family into a fight for understanding and healing. His father, Pastor Daniel Waller, confronts stigma and seeks help as their community faces the realities of the opioid crisis. This screening challenges misconceptions and calls us to compassion. Sponsored by the Buckhannon Police Department, City of Buckhannon, FOP Lodge #114, Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur and the Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Free and open to the public.
