The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 2,799 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 301 since the last report Friday.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (37), Barbour (9), Lewis (9), Randolph (187) and Webster (6) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of one active case since Friday.
Four additional deaths have been attributed to the disease since Friday, according to the DHHR – a 78-year old male from Grant County, a 95-year old male from Morgan County, a 51-year old male from Wayne County, and a 79-year old female from Greenbrier County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of June 14, 2021, there have been 2,947,986 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 163,144 total cases and 2,853 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 2.46%.
A total of 773,506 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 43% of the state.
