National Hunting and Fishing Day tickets now on sale

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) announced that tickets for its National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration are now on sale. The annual event is returning to Stonewall Resort State Park in Roanoke on Saturday, September 21.

“West Virginia’s National Hunting and Fishing Day is an action-packed event that celebrates everything we know and love about the outdoors,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion. “We encourage everyone to buy their tickets and make plans to attend this exciting day of family-friendly activities in one of our world-class state parks.”

National Hunting and Fishing Day Tickets are $10 and kids ages 14 and younger get in for free. Anyone who purchases a ticket by 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 31 will receive five complimentary tickets to sample food at A Taste of West Virginia State Parks, a ticketed activity that features wild game, Appalachian favorites and signature dishes prepared by state park chefs. NHFD Events and Activities

Also returning this year is the popular Outdoor Youth Challenge, which is designed to engage kids in a series of hands-on activities, such as fishing, wildlife identification, shooting sports and safety demonstrations. Participating youth will be entered into a drawing for several prizes, including scholarships to Conservation Camp and a lifetime hunting and fishing license.

Guests also will be able to attend presentations, see vendors showcasing the latest in outdoor equipment and services and get autographs from the hosts of Fly Rod Chronicles, The Chase, and Whitetail Frenzy.

West Virginia’s National Hunting and Fishing Day is co-sponsored by the WVDNR and the West Virginia Wildlife Federation. The event will be open Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking for the entire weekend is free and located close to the vendor mall.
