Mountain CAP awarded $66,438 for juvenile justice prevention

Mountain CAP of West Virginia, based in Upshur County, will receive $66,438 in federal Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Title II grant funding.

The award is one of 12 grants totaling $659,570 announced Monday by Governor Patrick Morrisey for projects across West Virginia.

The federal grant funds are awarded to public and private non-profit agencies throughout the state to support local programs aimed at preventing juvenile delinquency, rehabilitating juvenile offenders and strengthening the West Virginia juvenile justice system.

“Investing in our youth and providing targeted support to at-risk individuals helps strengthen our communities and build a safer future for West Virginia,” Morrisey said. “These investments will help local organizations deliver critical mentoring, counseling, intervention, and educational resources directly to families and young people across our state.”

The funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and are administered through the Justice and Community Services Section of the West Virginia Division of Administrative Services.

The 2026 Title II grant recipients are:
