More than 15,000 COVID-19 cases are now active in West Virginia, DHHR says Friday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Friday that 866 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (6), Barbour (6), Randolph (2) and Webster (1) counties.

A total of 114 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR. Friday’s update:

  • Removed two probable cases and added three confirmed cases to Nov. 25
  • Added two probable and three confirmed cases to Nov. 26

The DHHR did not report additional deaths on Friday.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m., November 27, 2020, there have been 1,095,837 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 45,046 total cases and 712 deaths,” according to a press release.

About 15,326 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 29,008 people have recovered and 712 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.89%.
