Michael Dennis O’Leary

Michael Dennis O’Leary, 74, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon.

He was born April 14, 1948, in New Bedford, MA, a son of the late Timothy and Jean Melanson O’Leary. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Brian O’Leary.

He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Nolte and husband Sam of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Ben, Maggie, and Joey Nolte all of Buckhannon; three brothers, Jim O’Leary and wife Lynn of ME, Dan O’Leary of Wayne, WV and Bruce O’Leary of Chesapeake, VA; two sisters, Jeannie O’Leary of Gonzalez, LA, and JoAnne Foster and husband Van of Birmingham, AL; several nieces and nephews and his cousin, Jane Small of MD.

Mr. O’Leary was an entrepreneur and a Catholic by faith. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the U. S. Marines. Mr. O’Leary loved watching sports and was a very talented basketball and baseball player in his younger years.

He was a true animal lover and would often time feed neighborhood animals and strays. Above all, he was a family man who loved his grandkids.

In honoring Mr. O’Leary’s wishes, he was cremated.

Friends will be received for a Celebration of Life, Sunday, March 26, 2 PM to 5 PM at the Buckhannon Opera House.
