Mary Rose Reed

Mary Rose Reed, age 81, of Tallmansville, WV, died Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

She was born December 19, 1942, in Grand Camp, WV, a daughter of the late Clyde Columbus and Goldie Ruth McCartney Chapman. On December 20, 1958, she married Donald Darrell Reed who preceded her in death on April 6, 2015. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence G., Carroll Lee, Norman Eugene, and James A. Chapman; two sisters-in-law Shannon and Mary Chapman and one brother-in-law, Andy Heater.

She is survived by three daughters, Connie Jean Wagoner and husband Teddy “Butch” of Ten Mile, WV, Carmela Jane Rice of Sago, WV, and Cindy Joyce Campbell and husband Mark of Buckhannon; one son, Donald Darrell Reed, Jr. and wife Sharon of Ten Mile; eight grandsons, Teddy “TJ” Wagoner, Jr. and wife Danielle, Brandon Reed and companion Ashley, Mitch Wagoner, Michael Ware and wife Dr. Danielle Ware, Hunter Reed and companion Shiloh, Levi Reed, Derek Reed, and Austin Reed and wife Tanisha; three granddaughters, Sheena Hoover and husband Travis, Carmalita Starkey and husband Todd, and Tameka Ware; 8 great-grandsons, Tucker Starkey, Nekotah Ware, Teddy “Jack” Wagoner, Brayden Reed, Wesley Hoover, Wadelynn Bennett, William Wagoner, and Remmington Reed; 12 great-granddaughters, Emma Starkey, Miley Starkey, Mahala Pumphrey, Faith Reed, Emily Reed, Scarlet Reed, Aubrey Reed, Nova Reed, Paisley Reed, Rosemary Ware, Evelyn Smith, and Aylyn Smith; several step grand children and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Flora Ruth Tharp and husband Eugene, Karen M. Heater, Della Chapman, and Geraldine M. Young and husband Robert; four brothers, Clarence William Chapman and wife Linda, Roy Rogers Chapman and wife Louise, Donald Clyde Chapman and wife Terry, and Marvin T. Chapman and one sister-in-law, Elloise (Susie) Chapman.

Mrs. Reed was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Buckhannon. She was also a member of the Ten Mile Community Association and a board member of the Big Bend Cemetery Association. Mary was a custodian for the Church for several years. She was also a caregiver and loved her family, gardening, farming, and animals.

Friends will be received, Friday, June 28, 2024, from 5 PM to 9 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A funeral will be held at 1 PM Saturday with Donald Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Big Bend Cemetery in Sago. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
