Mary Jane Piske

Mary Jane Piske, 96, of French Creek and a resident of St. Joseph’s Nursing Care Facility died on Wednesday May 13, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  She was born November 9, 1923, in Leavenworth, Kansas while her father was serving in the US Army a daughter of the late Harry Frank and Beulah Mattie Alderman Moore both originally from Upshur County.

She was united in marriage on June 2, 1942, to Harold Arthur Piske who preceded her in death on June 30, 1968.  In addition to her parents and her husband she was also preceded in death by one son Harry “Sonny” Piske and two brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by three daughters:  Cindy Rockey and husband Richard of Panama, N.Y., Susan McKisic and husband Paul of French Creek and Belinda Piske of Clarksburg

Four grandchildren:  Russell and wife Sheila Rockey, Amanda Rockey, Michael Paul McKisic and Alys and husband Andrew Freeman; four great grandchildren:  Ted and Mitch Rockey and Gracie Jane and Colton Freeman.   Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mary Jane was a former owner of a restaurant/catering business before moving to West Virginia.  She was a Christian by faith and in her younger years she enjoyed traveling to different churches to sing gospel music.  After moving to Upshur County, she was member of the Upshur County Extension Homemakers and opened her home so she could be a care provider.    She enjoyed gardening and canning and most of all she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Graveside services and interment will be held at the Rock Cave Cemetery Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Jessie officiating.
