Mary Evelyn (Elmore) Perry

Mary Evelyn (Elmore) Perry, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away with the love of her life by her side, at the age of 84 on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025. She was born Christmas Day 1940, daughter of the late Perry French and the late Blanche Elmore of Kanawha Head. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Phillip, and her brother, David.

She is survived by three brothers: Kenny Elmore, Joe Elmore, and Don Elmore; and three sisters: Barb Wade, Norma McDaniels, and Betty Cinalli. On June 21, 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, Arnett Wayne Perry of Ten Mile, who survives. Together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, raising four beloved children: Rebecca Phillips and Husband Sid of Buckhannon, Steven Perry and Wife Lynne of Buckhannon, Beverly Cutright and Husband Burl of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Brenda Bush of Buckhannon.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren who loved her tremendously: Shea (Keri) Phillips, Sheena (C.J.) Bringing even more joy to her wonderful life were eight loving great-grandchildren: Winnie, Lucy, Crosby, Indie, Haisley, Lexi, Mason, and Mallory.

Mary elegantly represented the Homecoming Court as the Buckhannon-Upshur High School Homecoming Queen of 1958. After graduation, she dedicated the rest of her life to her husband and family, nurturing those she loved with kindness and wisdom. Her door was always open to friends and family. She took great pleasure in fixing you a meal for breakfast, dinner, or supper. She was also a talented artist and seamstress. Her family takes solace in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones that passed before her.

To honor her wishes, she will be cremated, and there will be no public funeral services. Her family wishes to thank the Upshur County EMS and the Emergency Room staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the wonderful people at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home for their quick response and tremendous care.
