Margaret Eleanor Blend

Margaret Eleanor Blend, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV, died on August 7, 2023.

She was born September 22, 1933, in Nelson, PA, the daughter of Burton and Leah Bailey. On August 25, 1951, she married Theodore Blend who preceded her in death on October 4, 2015. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Margaret Bailey; two brothers, Edward Bailey and William Bailey and one sister, Carole Walker.

She is survived by three sisters, Marlea Borden, Sue Stewart, and Elaine Jelliff. She is also survived by two daughters, Diane Hill and husband Greg of Buckhannon and Debra McCoy of Athens, Ohio; two sons, Bruce Blend and wife Teresa of Buckhannon and Thomas Blend and wife Robin of Cherryville, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Jason Hill, Allison Swan, Cara Richardson, Megan Springer, Brian Blend, Eric Blend, Leah Blend, Kelly Radford and Jared Blend and 16 great-grandchildren, Shelby, Emmy, and Baylor Hill, Ryker and Everett Swan, Annica and Asher Richardson, Jacob, Marley Hattie, and Maddox Springer, Elliot and Leon Blend, Teddy Blend, Emery Radford, and Nora Blend.

Eleanor was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. She worked with Dr. J.C. Huffman as his physician’s assistant and was a childbirth educator for many years. She was also the Area Coordinator for Read Aloud WV and active in many community organizations. Eleanor and Ted enjoyed traveling, visiting their children, and spending time at the family farm in NY.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 18, 2023, from 2 to 4 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 4 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Rebelo officiating.
