Loretta M. Corathers

Loretta M. Corathers, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Country Living Personal Care Home in Jane Lew, WV. She was born May 27, 1943, in Spencer, WV, a daughter of the late Ira J. and Arlene Harper Tanner. On October 12, 1969, she married Monter A. “Mac” Corathers who preceded her in death on September 5, 2021.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Tanner, sister, Patricia Long and sister-in-law, June Tanner. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Kelley and husband Greg of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Dakota McCartney and Logan Kelley both of Buckhannon; great-grandson, Tanner McCartney of Buckhannon; sister, Ellen Tanner and husband Robert Story of Newton, AL and brother, John Tanner and wife Lois of French Creek, WV.

Mrs. Corathers was a banker and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Aletha 82 in Rock Cave, WV, Business and Professional Women, Buckhannon Rotary and the Red Hats. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brooklynn Russell, Ivy Landis and Sherry Sellers for their loving care of Loretta.

In honoring Mrs. Corathers’ wishes, she will be cremated. Friends will be received for a memorial gathering Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Timothy Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
