Lloyd “Ray” Ogden

Lloyd “Ray” Ogden, 83, of Rock Cave, died January 11, 2024, at Bridgeport Healthcare Center.

He was born May 5, 1940, in Upshur County, a son of the late Elvin Curley and Ruby Mae (Lee) Ogden. On May 13, 1989, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Louise Wilfong Cutright Ogden, who preceded him in death on April 15, 2021. In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by one infant sister Violet Patricia Ogden; and four brothers: Willard Keith Ogden, Wilson Dexter Ogden, Arthur Wayne Ogden, and Elvin Elias Ogden. He is survived by one sister Twila Mae Fidler; one brother Roger Lee Ogden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray attended many churches throughout Virginia and West Virginia which led him to preach the Gospel. He spent many years in Virginia but in his later years settled back to West Virginia on family owned land. His nephew, Leroy Wayne Ogden took care of and saw to his needs until his demise.

The body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date and inurnment will follow at the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Upshur County.
