Lester Darl Boylen

Lester Darl Boylen, 91, of Buckhannon, made his journey to Heaven from the comfort of his home on Saturday, September 10, 2022.

He was born in Grafton on April 2, 1931, to the late Clifford and Chloe Shahan Boylen. Along with his parents, Lester was preceded in death by two children: Les Boylen and Darlene Boylen; five brothers: Delbert, Merle, Russell, Ralph, and Clyde Boylen; and one sister, Dorothy Bolyard.

On February 15, 1955, Lester married his love and partner, Nancy Ellen McAfee. Together they shared a wonderful and blessed life of marriage raising their family.

Forever cherishing their memories of Lester’s compassionate nature with his wife are two children: Janet Smith and husband, Tom, of Buckhannon and Brenda Hull and husband, Brent, of French Creek; six grandchildren: Michael Newlon and wife, Tina, of Fort Worth, TX, Beth Clinton and husband, Chris, of Ashland, KY, Nick Boylen and wife, Kristy, of Buckhannon, Roger Hull and wife, Heather, and Darla Stasia and husband, Ryan, both of French Creek, and TJ Smith and wife, Ashley, of Buckhannon; eleven great grandchildren: Elijah and Charity Newlon, Alliyah and Bret Boylen, Kylie and Brody Hull, Kyle, Kinley and Kaisley Stasia, and Presley and Trenton Smith; daughter-in-law, Kathy Boylen of Buckhannon; two brothers: Francis and Jimmy Boylen, both of Grafton; two sisters: Margie Newlon of Buckhannon and Helen Toney and husband, Walker, of Nebo, NC; and his beloved dog, Bella.

Lester is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a lifelong Evangelist and Pastor for over sixty years. He was the retired pastor of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Buckhannon. Over the years, he built two churches for his congregation, so they would always have a place to go to worship. Lester was respected and truly cared about people and mentored people in the ministry. There was no end to his love for God, his family and his congregation. He was a man of honor and the best Husband, Father and Grandfather. Lester will be missed by all that knew him.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Albert Belt and Jerry Murrell officiating. Interment will follow at Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army and the Upshur County Honor Guard.
