Lennie Floyd Tenney

Lennie Floyd Tenney, age 80, of Buckhannon, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He was born on April 29, 1945, in Ellamore, a son of the late Charles and Vera Lamb Tenney.

His mother passed away when he was eight years old, and his father later remarried June Helmick. He had one half-brother, David (Christina) Tenney, from this marriage. Later, his father married Rosemary Scott, and he had three half-brothers: John Tenney (Flo), Randy Tenney (Angela), and Chris Tenney (Lisa); and two half-sisters: Diana Gregory (Jim) and Mary Hawkins (Randy).

He was married to the love of his life, Carol DeBarr Tenney, on July 6, 1963; she survives along with their three children: Bryan Tenney (Missy), Bradley Tenney, and Claudia Hatfield (Doug); eleven grandchildren: Michael, Lauren, Dylan, Brandon, Aaron, and Stephan Tenney, Paisley, Kristin, Luke, Julian, and Noah Hatfield; seven great-grandchildren: Motley Tenney, Ryatt, Cashton, Jett (Sturdivant) and Braelynn Sparks, and Ryder and Avery Mallow; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Davis, and one great-grandchild, Colter Tenney.

He graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1963 and was an active member in the FFA. He worked for Moore Business Forms for thirty-one years before they closed, and then he worked for Trus Joist for fifteen years until his retirement. He was always a hardworking, loving husband, father, brother, and friend. At times some may have thought he was a grizzly bear, but those that knew him best know he was actually a teddy bear. He knew and loved the Lord and was a long-time member, teacher, and trustee of the Tallmansville Baptist Church.

Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, the funeral hour, with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. A dinner will be held at the Tallmansville Fire Department immediately following the services.

The family has honored his wishes for cremation, and a graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WVU Hospice at 2673 Davisson Run Road, Suite 201B, Clarksburg, WV 26301.

Online condolences may be extended to the Tenney family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The Tenney family entrusted the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services with funeral arrangements.
