Two-person Left of Center exhibition opens at CAC Gallery in downtown Buckhannon

The CAC Gallery is pleased to present “Left of Center,” a two-person exhibition featuring the works of Michael Doig and Kevin Woodcock. The exhibition runs from January 17 to February 28, 2025. An artist reception will be held on Saturday, January 25, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with an artist talk at 2 p.m.

Michael Doig’s paintings draw inspiration from his childhood spent exploring life in and along the Tygart River. He uses imagery evocative of small-town life, interspersed with surprising colors and drips of paint that obscure parts of the picture plane, evoking thoughts of memory, erosion and deep geological history.

Kevin Woodcock’s work aims to express his sense of awe for nature and natural phenomena.

Woodcock stated, “I am not interested in being so precise as to look like a photograph, rather I work in a more gestural manner to try and show some of the movement of the place whether it be wind, water or sound.”

The gallery is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The CAC Gallery is located at 48 East Main Street in downtown Buckhannon. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
