Lady ‘Cat netters earn fourth seed in upcoming MEC Tournament

BRIDGEPORT – Following the conclusion of the regular season schedule, the Mountain East Conference today announced the seeds and semifinal matchups for this week’s Women’s Tennis Tournament, which will be played May 4-5 at Schoenbaum Courts in Charleston. The semifinals will begin on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., with the championship slated for 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
 
The University of Charleston went 5-0 in conference play to repeat as the MEC Regular Season Champions in women’s tennis. The final three seeds in the tournament field all finished with a 3-2 mark in conference play and seeds were assigned using the head-to-head ‘matches’ tiebreaker.
 
Charleston will meet fourth-seeded West Virginia Wesleyan (3-2) in the first semifinal on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Second-seeded Fairmont State (3-2) and third-seeded Frostburg State (3-2) will wrap up the semifinal round at 5 p.m.
