Lady ‘Cat netters down Cal (Pa.) on the road, 6-1

CALIFORNIA (Pa.) — The West Virginia Wesleyan College’s women’s tennis team rolled over California University of Pa. 6-1 Saturday.

In five of the six singles matches, the Lady Bobcats won in straight sets. In #1 singles Dominique Jansen defeated Diletta Maria Mungo 6-1, 6-2. The #2 singles victory went to Omolade Aderemi who beat Leandra Guldimann 6-3, 6-0. Sneha Sundaraneedi topped Maria Del Mar Ojeda for the #3 victory 6-2, 6-4. In #4 singles, the closest of the Bobcats’ six matches, Fatima Bamonde beat Bega Gotor 7-5, 6-4 and Marisa Lauffer defeated Sierra Everett 6-4, 6-3 in #6 play. Wesleyan’s only loss was the extended #5 singles match where Cal’s Carmen Duran defeated Emily Lybarger 4-6, 6-0 and 11-9.

The Lady Bobcats’ sweep of doubles play had Sundaraneedi / Jansen defeating Maria Del Mar Ojeda / Mungo 6-2, doubles team Bamonde / Aderemi defeated Guldimann / Duran 6-3, and Lauffer / Lybarger topped Gotor / Everett 6-4.

Wesleyan travels to Shepherd University Saturday, Sept. 30 for a match that begins at 2 p.m.
