Lady Bucs take winning streak to eight with shutout against Fairmont Senior

FAIRMONT – Cameron Zuliani had a goal and two assists to lead the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc soccer team to a 3-0 victory over the homestanding Fairmont Senior Polar Bears Thursday evening at East-West Stadium in a Big 10 Conference clash.

The victory was the eighth straight for the Lady Bucs of head coach Jackie Zuliani as they lifted their overall record to 8-2 heading into Saturday’s road contest at Wheeling Park. They are a perfect 6-0 in the Big 10.

It took the B-U offense a while to get going as they didn’t score until the 35th minute.

Catherine Oliveto had the first Lady Buc goal as Zuliani played a through ball that she ran upon and found the back of the net with a goal treating the visitors to a 1-0 lead.

In soccer, once you get that first goal, the second one is easier to obtain and that was the case for the Lady Bucs as they scored just 46 seconds later when Zuliani played another through ball, this time to Lexi Kelley, who scored, upping the B-U lead to 2-0.

That was the score at the intermission.

The lone goal of the second half belonged to Zuliani who scored an unassisted goal from 15 yards out.

The Lady Bucs held a 9-6 lead in shots-on-goal and a 6-1 lead in corner kicks.

Buckhannon-Upshur keeper Kyndal Davis turned away four shots.

Following Saturday’s game with Wheeling Park, the Lady Bucs will visit East Fairmont Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start.
